Fellow Rotarians,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Toshio Sakamoto、M.D. from the Rotary Club of Tokyo
Hachioji South、serving as your Governor of RI District 2750 for 2007-08.
"Dozo Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu" ( I am looking forwards to getting to know you
all in this coming year.)

Rotary Club was started in 1905 by Paul P. Harris with his three business associates as a
club where they could meet and deal with one another in friendship and trust. Paul P. Harris
wrote in 1911 that " Rotary is entirely without precedent in the history of clubdom,
based on vocational classification".
Rotary Clubs soon incorporated the elements of service. Rotary Philosophy that has made
Rotary unique organization.
”Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who
provide humanitarian service , encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help
build goodwill and peace in the world." Above Statement is still used today.

I believe that each Rotarian of diverse background understanding and trusting each other,
creating good fellowship, learning Rotary ethics, philosophy, could translate　Four- way Test ,
RI Constitution, the code of Ethics into action.　
My idea of Rotary Club activities are that together with fellow Rotarians,
one learns Rotary Philosophy, and Rotary Service. Our regular meetings
are one of the examples.
To understand Rotary activities is like opening a door, and when one opens one door, there is
other door, and another following.
In the coming year, I do anticipate much challenges. I will call for your help, especially
Presidents' and I hope together we can meet that challenge.
Please remember that this year's RI theme is " Rotary Share", and I hope
that all of you will practice this theme in action.
